2020 Emerge Leadership Conference Recap
EMERGE is an excellent vehicle to help students learn the value of servant leadership. Moreover, it expands their perspective, helping them to learn and think about their community's past, present and future.
John Joseph, Executive Director at Decatur-Morgan County Entrepreneurial Center
The EMERGE Program provides a dynamic experience for students interested in leadership to obtain different perspectives from community leaders. Students electing to participate in the EMERGE Program will acquire value added face-to-face instructions on leadership from a spiritual and business platform, while simultaneously being able to ask questions and receive feedback that will enhance their journey to becoming exceptional leaders.
Nat Richardson Jr., President, Decatur Morgan Hospital
EMERGE is producing leaders who will be capable to participate and ultimately lead Community Building initiatives. Because of the leadership training they received they will become better Listeners and Communicators. Their ability to effectively Persuade will have a positive impact on our Growth and the need to Invest in Others that will sustain Growth. These Strengths will last a Lifetime.
Tab Bowling, Mayor of Decatur, AL
The EMERGE program was a great opportunity to interact with other students your age that are striving for the same result. To be a leader. It is such a rewarding program because not only do you get to listen to some great leaders, but you get to take those skills and use them to serve your community. I love it and so will you!
Madison S. – High School Senior
At EMERGE, I got to spend my summer with a group of like-minded high schoolers who all voluntarily strive to make themselves, their schools, and their communities a better place. Being given the opportunity to not only learn valuable leadership skills in the program, but also getting to put them into practice by serving in the community was very refreshing.
Addie J. – High School Senior
By going through EMERGE, I have changed my way of leading. Before the last two summers, when I led, I was arrogant and militaristic, but now I show respect to my teammates on a project, I am open to their suggestions, and I try not to act like a know-it-all egotist. EMERGE has changed the way I lead for the better!
Ethan W. – High School Senior
EMERGE allowed me to learn how important leadership is and that it isn’t something to take lightly. Leadership isn’t about the title, but it’s about the kind of influence you have on a group of people.
Dawson F. – High School Senior
